How Long Does a Real Estate Video Shoot Take?

How Long Does a Real Estate Video Shoot Take?
Quick answer: How long does a real estate video shoot take? Learn typical shoot durations for aerial drone and interior video, and what factors affect your timeline.

When agents and sellers ask how long a shoot takes, the most accurate answer is 60 to 120 minutes for a typical full listing. But several factors determine exactly where on that range your property lands, and it's worth understanding each one.

The Aerial Portion: 20–40 Minutes

The drone portion of a full listing shoot takes 20 to 40 minutes, including setup, flight, and breakdown. This assumes standard airspace (no prior authorization required) and good flying conditions. We typically fly multiple passes — a reveal approach, a full orbit, close-up roofline and exterior detail shots — plus any specific angles that highlight the property's features.

If the property is in controlled airspace near an airport, we obtain LAANC authorization in advance so there's no delay at the shoot. Properties with complex lot layouts or significant acreage may take slightly longer to cover thoroughly.

The Interior Walkthrough: 40–80 Minutes

Interior shooting time scales with square footage and complexity. A tight 1,400 sq ft home can move quickly — entry, living, kitchen, two bedrooms, two baths might take 40 minutes. A 3,500 sq ft home with a bonus room, formal dining, multiple en-suite bathrooms, and a finished basement can take 70 to 80 minutes to cover properly.

Properties with challenging light — narrow rooms, heavily shaded north-facing windows, mixed lighting color temperatures — take additional time to balance. We work efficiently without rushing, because a shot that takes three minutes to set up correctly is better than one captured hastily in 30 seconds.

What Makes Shoots Run Longer

  • Large square footage — more rooms, more shots
  • Outbuildings — detached garages, guest houses, barns add coverage time
  • Complex lighting situations — lots of windows, dark rooms, or mixed color temperatures
  • Staging adjustments needed on arrival — this is why our prep checklist matters
  • Multiple levels — basements and bonus floors add time

Aerial-Only or Interior-Only Shoots

If you're booking aerial stills only, plan for 30 to 45 minutes on site. Interior video only (no aerial) typically runs 45 to 75 minutes depending on square footage.
