What to Expect on the Day of Your Real Estate Video Shoot

What to Expect on the Day of Your Real Estate Video Shoot
Quick answer: What happens on real estate video shoot day? Here's a full timeline of what to expect from arrival through delivery from Film My Listing.

Knowing what to expect on shoot day reduces stress for everyone — especially sellers who may not have been through the process before. Here's a clear timeline of how a typical Film My Listing shoot runs from arrival to wrap.

Before We Arrive

We confirm the shoot window by email and typically arrive within the first 15 minutes of your scheduled start time. If weather conditions look marginal for the aerial portion, we'll reach out the morning of to discuss whether to proceed or reschedule. We never fly in unsafe conditions, and rescheduling for weather is always at no charge.

Have the home fully prepared before we arrive — lights on, pets out, sellers present only if necessary. See our complete preparation checklist for details. We can't clean or stage during the shoot without adding significant time.

The Exterior and Aerial (First 30–45 Minutes)

We begin with exterior ground-level angles and drone setup. Weather and airspace permitting, the aerial portion takes 20 to 30 minutes. We fly multiple passes — orbits, reveals, approach shots — and capture both video and still imagery during the same flight. If the property is near controlled airspace (common near BNA or Smyrna Airport), we obtain the necessary LAANC authorization in advance.

We aim to fly in the best available light. For afternoon shoots, this means we may capture the aerial toward the end of the session when the sun is lower. We'll communicate the plan when we arrive.

The Interior Walkthrough (45–75 Minutes)

After the exterior, we move inside. We work room by room — entry, living areas, kitchen, dining, bedrooms, bathrooms, and any bonus spaces. Our approach is methodical and efficient. We ask that no one walk through the frame while we're shooting. Sellers can be in another part of the home or step outside.

We pay attention to light in each room and may adjust blinds or lamps to get the best result. Bathroom mirrors sometimes require specific angles to avoid reflections — this is normal and takes a moment to solve.

Total Shoot Time

A full listing shoot — aerial exterior plus interior — typically takes 90 to 120 minutes depending on the square footage and lot. Larger estates or properties with outbuildings may run longer. We'll give you an honest estimate when you book.

After the Shoot

Edited video is delivered via private download link within 24 to 48 hours of the shoot. Files are provided in MLS-ready format and social-ready format (including vertical cuts with the Full Listing Video and Everything packages). You'll receive a notification email with the download link and file specifications.

Questions about your specific property? Reach out when you book and we'll walk through any details in advance.
